Our science curriculum is designed to nurture curiosity, develop scientific thinking and inspire children to explore the world around them.
Science at our school is practical, hands‑on and highly engaging. Children learn by doing: observing closely, setting up tests, comparing results, using scientific equipment and drawing conclusions. Enquiry runs through every unit, from investigating materials in Otters to exploring electricity, forces and Earth and Space in Ravens.

Our science curriculum is carefully sequenced to ensure that knowledge builds progressively from EYFS through Year 6. Across the school, children study key areas of biology, chemistry and physics.
These topics are enriched with outdoor learning, local context and cross‑curricular links where meaningful - for example, studying habitats alongside geography or exploring materials in connection with history or DT - while maintaining the distinct disciplinary focus of science.

We place a strong emphasis on developing children’s scientific language and enquiry skills. Knowledge and vocabulary are revisited and deepened year on year, enabling children to explain processes, describe observations accurately and link ideas across topics.
